Women Empowerment Program
Empowering rural women through education, health, support, and self-sustaining skills
Our Mission
Empowering Rural Women for Gender Equality
Nagarjun Learning Center (NLC) is deeply committed to the empowerment of rural women in Nepal. We believe that women's rights are central to eradicating poverty, and that true progress only happens when women and girls are given equal access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunity.
In many parts of rural Nepal, especially in regions like Dhading, women face severe challenges — limited access to education and health services, early marriage, heavy labor, and domestic abuse. NLC is working to change that.

Four Pillars of Empowerment
Education
NLC hires a dedicated teacher for women who want to learn. Classes are held after 7 PM so women can participate after their household work.
Health
Health awareness sessions, multivitamins, physical therapy and pain management for women suffering from overwork.
Psychological Support
Monthly women's group meetings — a safe space to speak openly, share problems, and find strength and solidarity.
Financial Autonomy
Skill-based training — sewing, soap making, incense making, cooking, cheese-making, candle-making, and other income-generating crafts.
How It Started
The program began on February 15, 2022, with volunteer Clementine Louis from Paris. On the first day, only 8 women attended. By the second day, 35 joined. Today, over 275 women are part of this group in Saldum alone.
While building the Saldum Learning Center, our team saw firsthand the hardships faced by women — long days in fields, domestic abuse, no access to education or reproductive health. We could not remain indifferent.
